Stephen Kent Ehat, Esq.
Stephen Kent Ehat, born in San Francisco in 1951, is an active member of the State Bar of California (state bar number 133509). He performs research and writing services for California attorneys and does business as California Legal Research, Inc., a Utah Corporation. He excels in legal research and writing and loves his work. CALRI draws upon Mr. Ehat’s twenty-seven years of experience in the work-a-day world of the California courts and of the practicing professional.
Biography
Born in 1951 in San Francisco and reared there until graduation from high school, Mr. Ehat graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University (1978). In law school (1978-1981) he served as a member of the editorial board of the J. Reuben Clark Law School Journal of Legal Studies.
Upon completion of his legal studies, Mr. Ehat accepted a judicial clerkship in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. From 1989 to 2000 he was in private practice in central California, serving as assistant city attorney for five cities, writing trial and appellate briefs for private and corporate clients.
Mr. Ehat is an active member of the State Bar of California, licensed to practice in all the courts of the State of California; in the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, and Central Districts of California; and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr. Ehat and his wife resided in Central California for twenty years, where they raised their five sons (four of whom now are married). Steve and his wife now live in Lindon, Utah and he continues his California law practice from there.
Mr. Ehat has taught the Business Law class at the BYU Salt Lake Center and continues to write top-quality California trial-court and California appellate-court briefs and regularly participates in California Continuing Legal Education courses.
